Basic Function

  • Sets up, runs, and monitors the cabling lines for all standard products.

  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Optical Test & Systems Engineer

Basic Function:  Conducts environmental and mechanical tests on cables and assemblies following industry, corporate, and military standards and procedures.  Sets up equipment, conducts experiments, calculates, and records the results.

 Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

    • Understand and apply industrial, corporate, and military standards and procedures to test
    • Use computers and peripherals to obtain, organize, and correctly interpret significant
      amounts of data.
    • Troubleshoot test setups and catastrophic failures for root causes (able to locate bad
      splices, suspect optical interfaces, bad alignment sleeves, misconfigured equipment,
      computer malfunctions, etc.)
    • Perform inspections, testing, and analysis in support of customer complaints, return
      material authorizations, and root cause analysis using OTDR equipment.
    • Support production efforts by performing required inspections, analyses, and tests.
    • Update test log sheets, print test sheets, and generate test reports.
    • Support Interferometry and Visual Inspection testing.
    • Perform Group B testing for the M83522 product family.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in fiber optic testing.   

Experience, Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs and FiberChek Pro, Connector Max endface testing software, and DORC or Daisi Data Pixel interferometry software.   Ability to use Optotest, Rifocs, and/or Viavi equipment, including light sources, power meters, microscopes, switches, and OTDRs.  Able to read and interpret assembly and engineering drawings and identify standard color coding of fiber optic cables.  Must have eye and hand coordination for detailed ability to recognize mechanical fit problems.  Ability to read and understand work instructions and procedures.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Ability to organize, complete tasks, and effectively manage time.  Pay close attention to detail and have the ability to recognize and resolve problems.

Basic Function:  Prepares and packages fiber optic cable for shipment, bag/box, and package orders per customer specifications.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Lift, move, sort, or place pallets, boxes and items from bin locations to staging areas, build areas, pallets or crates
  • Securely band and/or wrap pallets and crates in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Loads outgoing shipments on trucks daily
  • Compares data sheet to the picking ticket and accurately records information
  • Ensure inventory and labeling accuracy to be packed, palletized, and shipped
  • Compares information and counts, weights, or measures items for outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading or other records
  • Matches address labels to tags on cable and labels correctly; determines if the cable needs a UL label and attaches accordingly
  • Processes small packages through Fed Ex and UPS software
  • Assists in daily team projects as needed; actively participates in quarterly inventories
  • Use a wireless RF device or desktop computer

ERP, Material Mover & Fiber Specialist 1996

ERP, Material Mover & Fiber Specialist – DAYS

 

Basic Function:  Enters and processes work orders into the ERP system.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

    • Accurately and timely entering and processing of work orders into the ERP system. Examples of work orders include, but are not limited to the following:

Manufactured Work Orders

Stock Work Orders

Remake Work Orders

Engineering Work Orders

  • Coordinate all areas of the company as to job status and work order distribution; ensure the accurate and timely distribution of work orders to the appropriate facility location.
  • Accurately and timely distribute work orders to the appropriate location within the facility.
  • Monitor non-conformance areas for un-remitted remakes, and ensure compliance with the Remake Work Order Process.
  • Coordinates with Senior Planner to ensure all dried materials needed for the manufacturing team are met. Dries materials and moves to extruder lines as needed to ensure all production needs are fulfilled.
  • Assembles completed jobs from our OTDR 1 & 2 in process testing stations, verifies all paperwork, and promptly delivers to the next operation.
  • Accurately and timely perform cycle counts of inventory to ensure the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
  • Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job being performed.
  • Intra-Departmental cross-training as required

Performs specific Fiber Inventory responsibilities:

    • Receives fiber inventory from vendors, scans and applies internal ID numbers onto appropriate identification cards. Unpack fibers and prepare them for entry into the fiber storage area.
    • Stores, consolidates, and pulls fibers for allocation to purchase orders and stock orders, and delivers fiber to the associated buffer line for buffer manufacturing.
    • Conducts all documentation as it relates to removing and adding fiber inventory, linking fibers to ERP jobs, fiber inventory accuracy, and all documentation required for the job function.

Basic Function:  The Outside Sales Representative performs proactive sales activities for all OCC products and drives increased sales within the designated geographical territory.

Business Development Specialist – Data Center

Basic Function:   Serves as a technical specialist for all cable and connectivity products related to a target market.  Drives increased sales by proactively supporting the efforts of customers in these target markets.

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Serves as a market specialist by understanding OCC products, target markets, competitor products and customer base, market standards, product trends, and developments.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with influencers in the market including engineers, contractors, installers, integrators, distributors, and others that will result in the selection of OCC products by a customer and/or end user.
  • Drives sales proactively as a specialist for the assigned market segment; supports and engages other members of the sales team:
  • Provide market access to the sales team and analyze the best methods to execute sales plans for the markets,
  • Conduct both individual and joint sales calls, deliver presentations, and participate in trade shows,
  • Provide training on products and markets to the rest of the sales team, to MDIS participants, to other OCC partners, and to end-users and customers, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with engineering teams, and coordinates and acts as liaison for sales team with engineering teams, as appropriate.

Job Scope:

  •  Managerial:  Coordinates sales efforts in designated market segments and provides support to the sales team
  • Communication:  Regularly communicates with other members of the sales team (outside sales, inside sales), engineers, and customers.
  • Confidentiality:  Must maintain confidentiality concerning corporate goals and objectives, product information, and customer/sales activity
  • Financial:  Responsibility for operating within the constraints of the Auto and Expense Policy, especially by maintaining reasonable expenses.

 Minimum Qualifications Required:

 Education:  Bachelors degree, preferably in a technically related field

 Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:  RCDD desired

Maintenance Technician – NIGHTS 1987

Maintenance Technician

Basic Function: Set up and maintain industrial machinery.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Setting-up and/or assembling new machinery per specifications.
  • Observing machines or equipment (for visual and audio signs) to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments and/or repairs. Studying blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specifications to determine appropriate repairs.  Assembling and testing operating machines to verify the correction of malfunctions.
  • Dismantling and reassembling machines or equipment to replace defective parts as required.
  • Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery. Completing paperwork on parts used and repairs made.
  • Maintaining and lubricating machine tools and equipment as required.
  • Conducting all activities following the safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Utilizing and following quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job performance.

Experience:   1-3 years related experience and/or training preferred.   MT1 and/or industrial maintenance certification is desirable.  Military and Technical skills and training will be considered in Lieu of field experience.

                                

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:   Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a variety of machine tools, assemble parts to fabricate or repair machine tools, and proper maintenance of machinery.  Ability to read and follow complex instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures.  Math and handwriting skills and the ability to complete correctly all documentation.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.   Attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and help resolve problems. Ability to operate a forklift and aerial Work platform. Basic Electrical, hydraulic, and Pneumatic skills will be used daily. Machining and fabrication skills are a plus. The ability to create Electrical and Mechanical drawings are also essential skills.

 

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with employees, and vendors and awareness of alarms.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

Basic Function:  Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:

  • Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
  • Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.
