Marketing Specialist

Basic Function:   Provides planning and coordination support for the annual Tradeshow calendar to ensure strategic participation that increases ROI and lead generation.  Assists in executing branding and awareness projects and campaigns.  Acts as a “generalist” supporting a variety of marketing and administrative functions.

Significant Responsibilities:

 General Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the sample request process, ensure samples are cut timely and shipped as needed; track sample stock and requests in Excel.
  • Organize and maintain onsite stock of marketing collateral to provide in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform administrative functions that support marketing efforts, projects, and other departmental commitments, including bank deposits.
  • Monitors the effective use of lead generation and customer engagement tools, especially HubSpot’s successful use for increased customer reach
  • Collect critical intelligence for Marketing’s use to include competitor branding, products, projects; market industry research; general trends in the cable and connectivity industry.
  • Builds trust, values others, communicates effectively, drives execution, fosters innovation, focuses on the customer, collaborates with others, solves problems creatively and demonstrates high integrity.
  • Manages projects effectively, understands the variables that could impact completion and proactively mitigates such impact in order to meet deadlines.
  • Effectively implements/continues the use of social media tools

Tradeshow Coordinator:

  • Develops, with support from Marketing Manager and associated sales members, a Tradeshow Planning Package for all participants:
    1. Defines the branding statements for the show,
    2. Identifies the product set for display and focus in the booth,
    3. Booth design and set up,
    4. Competitor analysis – prepare attendees for naming OCC benefits against competitor products based on pre-show research.
    5. Customer review – targets for the show.
  • Serves as primary contact for internal and external contacts involved with a show.
  • Handles administrative functions and logistics:
    1. Creates AFEs and tracks expenses and completes expense reports in a timely and accurate manner
    2. Show documentation, product requests, booth planning, collateral oversight, shipping,
    3. Lead retrieval;
  • Manages tradeshow inventory: maintains a current list of inventory locations, sets ordering/packing/shipping schedule for shows, and coordinates to/from/between show travel.
  • Coordinates a post-show review and ensures a Tradeshow Executive Summary is completed.
  • Attends 4-7 tradeshows per year to direct/complete setup and tear down.
  • Monitors the effective use of lead generation and customer engagement tools, especially HubSpot’s successful use for increased customer reach
  • Effectively implements/continues the use of social media tools

 

Branding Administrator:

  • Provides support to the Marketing Manager on setting communications calendar;
  • Executes branding activity as assigned:
    1. Social media postings
    2. Distributor marketing program activity
    3. Manages print collateral: oversees print orders, and assists in collateral development and distribution.
    4. Supports digital collateral such as webinars, and email campaigns.

 

Lead Generation Partner:

  • Supports lead-generating activities within the marketing team (email campaigns, small events, webinars),
  • Understands and manages HubSpot,
  • Ensures tradeshow, event, and website leads are tracked appropriately and provided to the field.

 

Coordinate and maintain marketing vendor relationships (primarily related to trade shows and customer programs) for ordering supplies and services, arranging for payments and keeping track of marketing expenditures.

Job Scope:

  • Organizational responsibility: works with outside and inside sales and business development; supports marketing team; administrative functions for marketing and other departments

  • Confidentiality:  High level of confidentiality required regarding corporate initiatives, customer matters and employee issues.
  • Financial:  Operate as a fiscally responsible team member by maintaining reasonable expenses; must evaluate the potential returns on investment before requesting purchases.  Respond to the finance team’s request for information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Judgment:  Use marketing expertise to make effective decisions to promote rather than hinder business success and growth
  • Compliance:  Responsible for SOX compliance as it pertains to the teams work processes; responsible for understanding, following and administering corporate policies.  Complies with other application regulations
  • Travel: Regular travel (up to 20/30%) for trade shows and to other OCC locations

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree preferred but Associates degree or HS Diploma combined with 3+years of experience in marketing (including tradeshow experience) or related position

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a marketing and/or event/trade show role preferred

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:  None                           

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: 

  • Able to travel
  • Project management skills (exposure to formal PMP practices preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to read and follow basic instructions, as well as understand and implement quality procedures.
  • Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all budgeting/planning documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Present close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately.

  • General Understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, and Photoshop, preferred.

Maintenance Technician – NIGHTS

Maintenance Technician

 

Basic Function: Set up and maintain industrial machinery.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Setting-up and/or assembling new machinery per specifications.
  • Observing machines or equipment (for visual and audio signs) to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments and/or repairs. Studying blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specifications to determine appropriate repairs.  Assembling and testing operating machines to verify the correction of malfunctions.
  • Dismantling and reassembling machines or equipment to replace defective parts as required.
  • Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery. Completing paperwork on parts used and repairs made.
  • Maintaining and lubricating machine tools and equipment as required.
  • Conducting all activities following the safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Utilizing and following quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job performance.

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience:   1-3 years related experience and/or training preferred.   MT1 and/or industrial maintenance certification is desirable.  Military and Technical skills and training will be considered in Lieu of field experience.       

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:   Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a variety of machine tools, assemble parts to fabricate or repair machine tools, and proper maintenance of machinery.  Ability to read and follow complex instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures.  Math and handwriting skills and the ability to complete correctly all documentation.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.   Attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and help resolve problems. Ability to operate a forklift and aerial Work platform. Basic Electrical, hydraulic, and Pneumatic skills will be used daily. Machining and fabrication skills are a plus. The ability to create Electrical and Mechanical drawings are also essential skills.

General Assembler – Asheville

Basic Function:

Assembles basic production parts according to work instructions and pick list using hand tools, pneumatic press and by operating the bagger machine.

Significant Responsibilities: 

Performs specific job responsibilities:

    • Assemble parts according to work instructions and assembly drawings checking pick list to insure all parts are included.
    • Recognize discrepancies on assemblies and reports to Team Leader or Supervisor.
    • Perform all tasks in Work Center 3 (kit assembly), 18 (auto bagger), 2 (patch panels), 4 (fiber boxes) and 15 (small cabinets).
    • Correctly interpret assembly drawings
    • Use proper hand tools for assemblies and works with a sense of urgency to meet the time allotted for work order. Operate pneumatic  press
    • Operate hand power tools – rivet gun and driver
    • Operate bagger machine and change bags and ribbons. Enter required information into bagger computer keyboard

  • Proper judgment and caution used to avoid errors that would render the assembly as scrap.  Scrap dollars are accounted for and affect company financials
  • Strictly follows ISO and safety policies and procedures

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  High School Diploma or GED

Experience:  1 or more years in a related field desirable

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:  NA

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills; sight sufficient to complete work accurately and to read/understand written instructions.

 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Ability to read work instructions and assembly drawings.  Use hand tools and power hand tools. Use pneumatic press and bagging machine. Ability to work in a team setting with minimal supervision.     Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel a plus.

 

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time (duration of work day).  Must be able to lift 30 lbs regularly. Full range of motion is required including stretching, bending, stooping. Noise level is moderate and employee should be able to hear an approaching forklift, machines and alarms.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions. Copper Cable and Patch Cords:  Assemble and test copper cable, Hydra, Patch Cords and Quad Box

Machine Operator:  Set up and operate machines for various jacks and 110 connectors using work instructions. Test parts at recommended intervals

Printed Circuit Board Assembly: Assemble and test printed circuit boards

Fiber, MT and Pre-term Assembly:  Assemble and test fiber assemblies and pre-term cabinets

Basic Function:  Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:

  • Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
  • Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.

Machine Operator – Extruder 3″ NIGHTS

3” Extruder Operator – NIGHTS

Basic Function: Sets up, runs, and monitors 3” extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following duties.

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

    • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the automation file to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
    • Sets up, runs, and continually monitors the 3” extrusion line for all products.
    • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per the proper automation file.
    • Applies print to cables using jet printers and mechanical printers as required.
    • Correctly completes all paperwork specific to this job function.
    • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
    • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.

Machine Operator – Cabler/Strander NIGHTS

Cabler/Strander Operator

 

Basic Function: Sets up, runs, and monitors Cabler/Strander/Rework Line equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities following safety procedures and guidelines:

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and monitors the Planetary Strander for all standard and nonstandard products.
  • Sets up and runs a respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool sub cables, fillers, and wire.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
  • Runs the rework line when the workload at the Strander allows including washing cables with E Cleaner or MEK, printing cables, stripping cables, respooling cables, wire, and fillers, and using the stripping wheel to strip armor and FRP cables.

Basic Function: Sets up, runs, and monitors 1 ¼” extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the file name to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and continuously monitors the 1 ¼” extrusion line for all products.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Accurately completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.

Production Supervisor – Days

Production Supervisor

 

Basic Function:  The Production Supervisor is a working supervisor responsible for the effective operation of a production shift which includes multiple operating units.  Effectively leads assigned teams’ production efforts as well as operates on the line (as needed) with a focus on quality.  Trains, develops, and schedules employees and work for maximum efficiency.  May work rotating day/night shift.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Understands and executes the production plans to meet goals; uses metrics set for the business unit to monitor progress.
  • Works closely with the BUL’s and planning team to identify and schedule production lines, engineering, and quality resources as needed.
  • Coordinates and allocates manpower to optimize production; communicates daily expectations and ensures operators have the tools to meet the expectations.
  • Ensures that all employees are supported and that their process/quality issues or concerns are managed proactively and effectively to meet plans and goals.
  • Ensures team members adhere to plant policies including safety, attendance, PTO scheduling
  • Identifies gaps and provides support on the line where and when needed.
  • Navigate Syspro (ERP system) to effectively move WIP and raw materials.
  • Troubleshoots to ensure that products meet required specifications.
  • Promotes standardization through workplace organization & visual controls (5S)
  • Coordinates and communicates with other shifts for seamless transitions and minimal disruption to workflow.

Job Scope:

  • Managerial:  Manages the flow of product throughout the production floor by supervising a team/shift of operators.
  • Communication:  Communicates with fellow supervisors and leaders in other departments to understand production needs and expectations
  • Confidentiality: A high level of confidentiality is required regarding corporate initiatives, customer matters, and employee issues. 
  • Financial:  Operate and manage a fiscally responsible team and maintain reasonable expenses; must evaluate the potential returns on investment before committing to purchases.  Respond to the Finance team’s request for information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Judgment:  Errors can impact the efficiency of on-time orders, general quality, employee morale
  • Compliance:  Responsible for SOX compliance as it pertains to the teams’ work processes; responsible for understanding, following, and administering corporate policies.  Compliant with operational procedures including ISO and OSHA/Safety.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  Associate degree in business, electronics, engineering or related field preferred.  An equivalent combination of knowledge and experience will be considered.  Bachelor degree in a related field is preferred but not required

Experience:  3-5 years’ operating extrusion, cabling, or other manufacturing equipment with experience serving in a leadership capacity (formal or informal).  WCM/Lean/Six Sigma, ERP, ISO, Safety, and/or engineering experience desirable.

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to be a team member, to lead/train/motivate a team, and to communicate expectations/hold individuals accountable.  Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement continuous improvement and resolve complex operational/personnel situations.  Demonstrated a history of making positive contributions to an organization as a leader.  Mechanical aptitude with the ability to review specifications, set up, run, and monitor a machine in a production environment.

Basic Function:  Provides production scheduling and materials planning for OCC Asheville.

  • Coordinates the daily priorities between production, sales, and inventory control.
  • Comply with and maintain corporate lead time objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety stock levels in the MRP system.
  • Assist with setting safety stock levels, as directed by manager.
  • Analyze and identify component, sub-assembly, and finished good stock levels.
  • Generate work orders for the production floor.
  • Review all BOM’s and drawings for accuracy prior to the release to production.
